Meet The Face Behind DINE Catering and Events
I’m Mark Holden, the proud owner of DINE Catering and Events. I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.
I started in the hospitality industry thirty years ago at the young age of sixteen. My first post was as a kitchen assistant, and over a few years, I quickly progressed to assistant chef, then front-of-house manager, and eventually to head chef of various kitchens.
After working with the highest end of hospitality, including catering to various well-recognized global clients and functioning as a private chef to multiple royal families, I moved to Houston in 2011 along with my wife, an international high school teacher. Upon moving to Houston, I continued to work between the United States and the UK for five years but decided to take a leap of faith and set up a brand new catering company, DINE Catering and Events, in August of 2014.
As with most small businesses, I have faced many challenges and overcome many obstacles to get to where I am today. I recently added our very own wedding and events venue near Lake Livingston, North East Houston, and hope the expansion catapults us to new heights and attracts new clientele.
The part of my business I most enjoy is seeing events we spend time and energy planning all come together like clockwork, leading to tremendous success for our client. I also love hearing compliments on our food and service, as I genuinely strive to deliver best-in-class events while accommodating all needs and budgets.
As an individual, I believe what sets me apart from the others is my belief that I am only as good as the last meal I served. This helps me not rest on yesterday’s laurels, avoids complacency, and has been the core of how I operate my business.
I attribute my success to my international experience and my always positive outlook on life. I have traveled and worked throughout the world, ensuring that I am open to new suggestions, new people and thrive on new challenges.
Purchasing our new wedding and event venue and being involved in the planning and design process from day one has given me immense satisfaction and much hope for the future.
When I am not at work, I am still always active. I recently rebuilt a classic British MG car from 1957 and enjoy taking it on drives. I also love my dog Diesel and take him fishing with me whenever I can.
I also believe in giving back to society and, as part of that belief, do my part to keep our rivers, lakes, and water supplies clean and safe for wildlife and ourselves.
I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
